About Diana:

Diana teaches sold out workshops across the world including at the prestigious Ahlan Wa Sahlan festival in Cairo, Korea, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Europe and the US. She is a spectacular performer, expert choreographer and excellent teacher, and is known for teaching in a way that is inspirational and clear, with the perfect amount of challenge to push students to a new level. Diana is a champion dancer having won countless competitions, and she trains students across the world for competitions and solo careers with great success- I (Jessica) have been her student for several years and it is no overstatement to say that studying with her really transformed my dancing.

About Khaled:

Khaled Mahmoud is an in-demand and world famous Egyptian master teacher with decades of experience. He is extremely knowledgeable on Egyptian music and dance, and his teaching style is detailed whilst being accessible for all levels. He also produces amazing music for dance, having produced several albums, and organises his own festival Pharaoh Shimmies along with Mohammed Shahin. His baladi workshop is not to be missed, for any lover of Egyptian dance.

Competition​​

This year we are excited to announce that we have a competition at London Raks Intensive with three categories! WIn amazing prizes, get feedback from our experienced judges (including Diana and Khaled) and perform in our beautiful theatre.

Categories:

London Raks Rising Star ⭐

• Styles: Oriental (classic, mejance) or pop song

• Format: Single round, participants perform to their own music

• Eligibility:

  • Less than 5 years’ experience in oriental dance

  • Does not perform professionally

• Entry fee: £35

London Raks Queen 👑 - win the opportunity to be a judge and special guest at our next edition! 

• Styles: Oriental (classic, mejance) or pop song

• Format: Two rounds

  • Round 1: Perform to own music

  • Round 2: 5 finalists improvise to a famous classic song (playlist sent 1–2 weeks before competition)

• Eligibility:

  • More than 5 years’ experience in oriental dance and/or performing professionally

• Entry fee: £45

• Prize: full package to the next edition of London Raks.

Drum Solo / Fusion Diva 👑

• Styles: Drum Solo or fusion with another dance style (e.g. tango, flamenco, Bollywood), dance with props (e.g. Isis wings, fan veil),  bellydance must be 60% of performance if fusing styles.

• Eligibility: All levels welcome

• Format: Single round, participants perform to own music

• Entry fee: £35

Prizes for all categories include discounts to many festivals across the UK and Europe.

Notes: All entrants must participate in a full package or day pass for workshops.

Full package holders get 30% discount on all categories.

• Bookings are non-refundable, but are transferable.

• If the intensive sells out, a waiting list will be available.

• workshops are suitable for intermediate, advanced and professional level dancers. For workshops based on a particular style eg baladi, saidi, iraqi, no prior knowledge is assumed of these styles. Do reach out if you have any questions.
